How to Assign Exercises to Individual Students

There are several ways to assign exercises, depending on where you are in the platform.

Method 1: Assign from the Exercise Library

Step-by-step:

  1. Go to Exercise Library (sidebar navigation)
  2. Browse or filter to find the exercise you want
  3. Click on the exercise card to open details
  4. Look for "Assign to Student" button
  5. A modal or dropdown appears with your student list
  6. Select one or more students (checkboxes)
  7. Optionally add a message (e.g., "Work on this for our next lesson")
  8. Click "Assign"

What happens: - The exercise is added to each selected student's practice plan - Students receive a notification: "Your teacher assigned you a new exercise" - The exercise appears in their dashboard under "Practice Plan" or "Assigned Exercises"

Pro tip: Add a short message when assigning ("Focus on breath support in this one" or "Try to hit 3 goal hits this week"). Personalized context helps students understand why you assigned it.

Method 2: Assign from Student Profile

If you're already looking at a specific student's profile, you can assign directly from there.

Step-by-step:

  1. Go to Student Management
  2. Click on the student's card to open their profile
  3. Navigate to their Practice Plan tab
  4. Click "Add Exercise" or "Assign New Exercise"
  5. A list or search interface appears showing all available exercises
  6. Find the exercise (browse, filter, or search)
  7. Click "Assign" next to the exercise

What happens: - The exercise is added to this student's practice plan immediately - They receive a notification - You're still viewing their profile, so you can see their updated practice plan

When to use this method: - When you're reviewing a student's progress and realize they need a specific exercise - During or after a lesson when you want to assign follow-up work - When building out a new student's plan from scratch

Method 3: Assign from Custom Exercises Page

For custom exercises you've created, you assign from the "My Custom Exercises" page.

Step-by-step:

  1. Go to My Custom Exercises
  2. Find the custom exercise you want to assign
  3. Click the actions menu (three dots or gear icon) on the exercise card
  4. Select "Assign to Students" or "Share & Assign"
  5. Choose students from your roster (checkboxes or multi-select)
  6. Optionally enable "Auto-assign to practice plan" (if you're sharing broadly)
  7. Click "Assign"

What happens: - The exercise is added to selected students' practice plans - If you selected "Share," the exercise also becomes visible in their Exercise Library - Notifications are sent

Pro tip: If you're assigning a custom exercise to multiple students who need different context, assign them one at a time so you can personalize the message for each.

Method 4: Quick Assign from Student Card

On the Student Management page, each student card has quick actions.

Step-by-step:

  1. Go to Student Management
  2. Find the student card
  3. Click the actions menu (three dots)
  4. Select "Assign Exercise"
  5. Choose from a quick list or search for an exercise
  6. Click "Assign"

Why this is useful: Speed. If you know which student and which exercise, you can assign in seconds without opening multiple pages.
