Student Actions Menu: Quick Tools¶
Each student card has an actions menu (usually three dots or a dropdown) with quick access to common tasks.
Typical actions available: 1. View Student Profile: See full details, progress, and history 2. View Exercises: Jump to the student's assigned exercises and practice plan 3. Assign Exercise: Quickly assign an exercise to this student 4. Send Message: Send a direct message or notification 5. Switch to Student View: View EchoVQ as if you're logged in as them (super helpful for troubleshooting) 6. Remove Student: Unlink this student from your teacher account
Let's break down a few of these:
View Student Profile / Exercises¶
Clicking these takes you to a dedicated page for that student showing: - Their practice plan (all assigned exercises) - Recent activity (practice sessions, recordings, completions) - Q-Orb metrics and progress (if they have recorded data) - Any notes or messages you've exchanged
This is where you go for a deep dive on one student's progress.
Send Message¶
Opens a quick message composer where you can: - Write a custom message - Add a subject/title - Send it as a notification (appears in the student's dashboard)
Students receive these as in-app notifications and may get email alerts (depending on their settings).
Use cases: - "Great work this week! I saw you hit a baseline improvement in pitch accuracy." - "Reminder: Your recital is next Friday. Let's do a run-through in our next lesson." - "I noticed you haven't practiced in a while — everything okay?"
Pro tip: Personal, timely messages build connection and accountability. A quick "I'm proud of your progress" message can be incredibly motivating for students who practice alone at home.
Switch to Student's Session (View as Student)¶
This powerful feature lets you temporarily view the platform as if you're the student — seeing exactly what they see.
Why this matters: - Troubleshooting: "I don't see the exercise you assigned" — switch to their view and see what's actually there - UX understanding: See what the student experience feels like - Verification: Make sure an exercise or message appeared correctly
How it works: 1. Click "Switch to Student View" from the student's action menu 2. The interface reloads showing their dashboard, practice plan, and insights 3. A banner at the top reminds you that you're viewing as the student 4. Click "Return to Teacher View" to switch back
Important: You're viewing, not editing. You can see what they see, but you can't modify their account or settings from this view (for security).
Remove Student¶
This unlinks the student from your teacher account. It does not delete their EchoVQ account or data — it just removes them from your roster.
When to use this: - The student is no longer taking lessons with you - They've switched to another teacher - They were added by mistake
What happens: - The student disappears from your student list - You lose access to their practice data and insights - They can still log in and use EchoVQ independently (their account is intact) - They receive a notification that you're no longer managing their account
Can you re-add them later? Yes! If the student still has an EchoVQ account, you can re-add them using the "Add Existing Student" method.
Teaching tip: If a student is taking a break or on hold (but plans to return), don't remove them. Instead, tag them with "On Hold" or "Inactive" so you remember they might come back.
